The Citation III, a midsize cabin business jet with a 2,054 nm range, was the first of Cessna's model 650 series. It was designed for optimal speed, utilized light weight composites and smooth surfaces to cut down on drag, and featured an entirely new fuselage mated to a super-critical swept back wing and a T-Tail. The Citation III was a successful and popular midsize jet, known for its performance and comfort. Despite its age, it remains a capable aircraft in the charter market. A total of 202 Cessna Citation III aircraft were built. Production of the Citation III ran from 1983 to 1992. The Citation III was eventually superseded by the Citation VI and Citation VII models.
