Ceylon highlangs is a highland tea that is clear and lively in colour with a typical hint of Highland freshness. Ceylon tea originates from Sri Lanka, but it has always been known as Ceylon Tea. Coffee was the main crop in Sri Lanka until the 1860s, when mould destroyed most coffee plants. Plantation owners had to switch to other crops. This laid the foundation for one of the world's largest tea-producing countries. Sri Lanka's finest teas come from bushes that grow at an altitude of over 1200 metres. The bushes grow more slowly in the cool hazy climate and are difficult to harvest because they grow on steep slopes. Ceylon tea is clear and vibrant in colour with a wonderful delicate flavour.
