The Challenger E10AR-001 arm restraint gear is the direct replacement for the Challenger lift it came off of. This is the genuine Challenger part — same fit and same working specification as the one already on your lift. Ordering the Challenger arm restraint gear from us gets you the OEM piece that matches the lift, not an aftermarket knock-off that is close but not the same. Specifications Part number: E10AR-001 Brand: Challenger Type: Genuine OEM arm restraint gear There is no part on a lift where "I'll get to it later" is more misplaced than the locks. This is the component that holds a car over a technician's head. A rounded tooth or a sticky pawl gives no second warning — it holds until the day it doesn't. Restraint gear and safety latches are cheap and the labor is modest; skipping them to save an afternoon trades a small job for a catastrophic one. Lock parts wear slowly but steadily every time the lift cycles. Each engagement bangs the pawl against a tooth; over thousands of cycles the contact faces peen over and round off. Dirt and dried grease build up in the pivot until the pawl gets lazy. A commercial lift that racks up cycles all day will round its lock teeth years before a low-use lift does — but neglect and rust can age either one fast. Related parts for this lift The parts below are commonly ordered alongside this one — cables, sheaves, seals, and hardware wear on similar schedules, and most repairs go faster when the whole set is done in one visit. Challenger E10AR-01 Arm Restraint Shield Kit E10 Replacing your arm restraint gear Lock work usually pairs with checking the release and the leveling, since uneven clicks can come from the ladder, the pawl, the release, or stretched cables. Replace the worn parts, then adjust so every lock lands together and releases together. Chasing that timing down correctly is the whole job, and the full walkthrough covers how. Full step-by-step: how to replace lift arm restraint gears. Find the right part for your lift Landed here but not 100% sure it is your part? Grab the model and serial from the data plate and open our Challenger parts lookup for the visual breakdown — the manufacturer-style drawing with every item numbered so you can match yours exactly. Plate missing? our guide to finding your model number helps, and we identify lifts from photos every week if you would rather ask. Signs the locking system needs attention Look at the pawl nose itself, not just the ladder. The contact face wears and rounds the same way the teeth do, and a rounded nose on a good ladder still skips. If the nose is peened, chipped, or no longer square, replace the pawl even if the ladder looks fine — both faces have to be sharp to hold. Parts commonly replaced at the same time Since the lift has to come down to its locks safely on both sides, service the lock hardware as a unit — latch, pawl, spring, cable, both columns. Half a repair leaves uneven engagement. We will build the full lock kit for your lift so it catches and releases together the way it should. Safety notes Every lift is designed to rest on its locks, not its hydraulics — which is why worn lock hardware is so dangerous. Replace latches, pawls, and release cables before they hesitate, verify both columns lock and release in step, and take any lift with an unreliable lock out of service on the spot. Before you order Before ordering lock parts, confirm your lift's model and serial — latch, pawl, and release-cable designs changed over the years. Replacing the lock hardware as a set on both columns keeps engagement even, so order for both sides unless you know only one is worn. Call if you need to match an older design. Confirm this is the right part before you order Lift manufacturers revise parts mid-production without changing the model name, so the same lift bought two years apart can take two different revisions of the same component. Before you order, find the model plate on the lift — on most 2-post lifts it rides on one of the columns at eye level, on 4-post lifts it is usually on a column or the power-unit side runway — and note the full model number and serial. The serial dates the lift to a production run, and that is what decides which revision fits. If the plate is painted over or missing, take a photo of the part you are replacing next to a tape measure and send it to us. Between the dimensions, the mounting pattern, and what lift it came off of, we can almost always identify the exact part before you spend money on the wrong one.
