Shrub Rose - Champlain Brilliant red double blooms with dark edges are mildly fragrant and 2 1/2 to 3”, born singly on 5-10" stems from June to October. Flowering is quite free and continuous without encouragement. Orange hips form in fall. ‘Champlain’ exhibits superior hardiness to zone 3, but will experience minor winter injury in zones 3 and 4 that requires tip pruning. Creates a nice informal hedge, pleasing in groupings in perennial or shrub borders, cottage gardens or foundation planting. Will survive to zone 3a without protection, further north protection is necessary.
