Music producer Jerry Goldstein originally recorded the album from within the walls of Tehachapi State Prison where Ike was serving a life sentence, and where the musical prodigy spent his time writing and performing alongside fellow inmates. His advocates and fans include the likes of Stevie Wonder and Snoop Dogg and, with the release of a 2020 doc, there is renewed interest in Ike's music and legacy.
