It was supposed to be just another late-night ghost hunt, broadcast to thousands of fans. Abigail Prinn is a 15-year-old Ghost Hunter with over 15,000 followers on her YouTube Channel: Channel Doom. This weekend, Abigail and her 16-year-old brother, Cotton, are investigating the abandoned 19th-century Hippocrates Hospital in their home state of Georgia. The hospital, once an asylum for victims of tuberculosis and a triage for Civil War soldiers, sits at the foot of the Appalachian Mountains. The area is known for unexplained disappearances of hikers, sightings of strange creatures, and ghostly apparitions said to roam the trail. Some claim this specific area of the Appalachian Trail is a portal to another realm, an alternate dimension that most never return from, and those who do are never the same again. During Abigail and Cotton’s live stream of their ghost hunt at the abandoned Appalachian hospital, unsettling things begin to happen. Not just to them, but to their viewers, as well. Flickering lights. Strange voices. Cold spots. Shadows moving through bedrooms and hallways. What’s happening? Why are their viewers being taunted and haunted by the ghosts hundreds and thousands of miles away? Are the ghosts here to stay?
