Elevate your performance in the show ring and stay protected on the toughest trails with chaps designed for a seamless, professional silhouette. These premium shotgun chaps provide the ultimate "stick" to your saddle, ensuring a stable seat and unmatched durability against the elements. Crafted from 3.5oz to 5oz premium full-grain leather, these chaps are engineered to withstand the rigors of daily ranch work while maintaining a supple, move-with-you feel. Featuring reinforced stress points and a double-stitched construction, they offer the heavy-duty protection horsemen demand without sacrificing the classic Western aesthetic. Key Features & Specifications: Shotgun (Stovepipe) Cut: Features a traditional straight-leg design that fits snugly from the thigh to the ankle, preventing the leather from flapping in the wind or snagging on dense brush. Premium Full Grain Leather: Utilizes the top layer of the hide to retain natural grains, providing maximum water resistance and a "tacky" texture for superior saddle grip. Heavy-Duty Hardware: Equipped with rugged, full-length metal zippers along the exterior of the leg for easy on-and-off transitions and long-term durability under tension. Adjustable Waist Configuration: Designed with a classic buckle closure at the back and a traditional leather tie at the front to ensure a secure fit over denim or winter base layers. Protective Side Fringe: Offers an iconic Western look while functionally shedding rainwater away from the legs and providing emergency leather ties for field repairs. Customizable Raw-Edge Hem: The unfinished bottom allows you to easily trim the leather with heavy-duty shears to achieve the perfect length for your specific boot height. Reinforced Stress Points: Built for the physical strain of mounting and cattle work with high-quality stitching designed to resist cracking and tearing. Frequently Asked Questions: Q: How do I ensure I order the correct size for a professional fit?A: The most critical measurement is the circumference of the widest part of your upper thigh, measured while seated. We recommend measuring over your heaviest riding jeans and boots; if you are between sizes or plan to wear thermal layers, size up to ensure full range of motion. Q: Why should I choose Shotgun chaps over Batwing styles?A: Shotgun chaps are the premier choice for cold weather and heavy brush because their "stovepipe" fit traps body heat and eliminates the gaps found in flared designs. They also provide the streamlined look required for Western Equitation and Horsemanship classes. Q: Do these chaps require a break-in period?A: Yes, high-quality full-grain leather is naturally thick and may feel stiff initially. They will soften and mold to your unique leg shape with regular use, or you can accelerate the process by applying a high-quality leather conditioner or neatsfoot oil. Item Number/SKU: 65-3275-LG
