In 1840, Carthusian monks first bottled what they called 'Liqueur de Santé,' drawing on a centuries-old Elixir Végétal formula held exclusively by the order at their Grande Chartre use monastery in France. The Chartreux Fathers still control every step of production: 130 plants and herbs are ground, macerated, and distilled before the liqueur ages in large oak vats to build complexity. At 55% ABV, it delivers a powerful aromatic hit of mint, pine sap, peppery herbs, and citrus, with a long, warming finish — and its vivid green color comes entirely from the plant ingredients themselves.
