I spotted my first Map butterfly in my field last year and was fascinated by its markings. It needs nettles to lay its eggs on so I have included a nettle leaf in my little paintin g of it. It is painted on the page titled 'Naissance d'un papillon' (birth of a butterfly) and shows children with nets trying to catch butterflies! on this old book page from 1909.
