Long regarded as one of the great wines in all of France, Château de Beaucastel comes from exceptional terroir located at the Northern limit of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, with the vineya rds being full of rolled pebbles over sand, clay and limestone, and the vines having been organically grown for over 50 years. Like most traditional CDP's, Beaucastel's blend consists of all thirteen grape varieties authorized by law for the appellation. Each variety in hand-harvested separately, vinified, and blended by the Famille Perrin before aging in oak Foudres for a year before bottling. The 2021 vintage is a blend consisting of 30% Grenache, 30% Mourvèdre, 15% Syrah, 10% Counoise, and 5% Cinsault, with the remaining 10% being made from Vaccarèse, Terret Noir, Muscardin, Clairette, Picpoul, Pacardan, Bourboulenc, and Roussanne. With a magnificent deep-red color and glimmers of purple, this wine is rich in aromatics. The quintessential garrigue of Southern France is omnipresent, with additions of liquorice, crushed berries and cassis compote. Tobacco leaf, violet, singed spices and stewed plums round everything out. Silky, plentiful tannins lead to a gentle, long finish. 14.5% ABV Show more
