Chiara Condello is an upcoming star from Emiliana Romagna and Le Lucciole is a tiny production wine (4000 bottles in total) from an organically farmed 1 hectare plot. It really is sensational Sangiovese and you can see why this is fast becoming a cult wine. Lovely notes of cherry, plum and spice lead into a palate that is both silky and fresh but with an underlying structure that tells you this is more than a simple table wine. It drinks superbly when young with that velvety fresh cherry, raspberry and plum fruit sitting in harmony with subtle spice and a hint of toast as well as an underlying mineral edge. It's elegant, long, balanced and delicious now but will age and develop gracefully.
