Chick Charms® Maroon Mountain™ (PPAF) features rich maroon rosettes with pale watermarks on the backs of the leaves, adding subtle detail and contrast. Its larger form and deep color make it a striking centerpiece for rock gardens, containers, and sunny borders. This cold-hardy Sempervivum will gradually produce offsets, forming a beautiful cluster over time. Each plant is fully rooted in a 4.5" pot. Hens & Chicks thrive with plenty of outdoor sunlight, which helps them develop their best colors and maintain their tight rosette shape. Plant them in gritty, well-draining soil and containers with drainage holes. As they grow, they produce small offsets, or “chicks," on stolons that can be left to create fuller clusters or gently removed for sharing and transplanting. Sempervivum grow most actively in spring and summer and appreciate regular watering during the growing season. In hotter climates, a little afternoon shade can help protect them when temperatures climb above 80°F. These hardy plants are extremely cold tolerant and can easily overwinter outdoors, often thriving beneath a protective blanket of snow. Be sure to protect them from heavy rain or standing water, which can lead to rot
