Following the success of their debut album ‘God’s Own Medicine’, The Mission expanded their sound with a collection of epic, emotionally charged songs that combined soaring melodie s, dramatic atmospherics and arena-sized ambition. In 1987 The Mission enlisted Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones to produce their second studio album, ‘Children’, engineered by Mark 'Spike' Stent. The album charted in the UK at #2 and featured the #12 hit single "Tower of Strength" along with its follow up "Beyond the Pale". The Children Play world tour, included a seven-night residency at the London Astoria where John Paul Jones made a guest appearance on keyboards alongside additional shows with Robert Plant, the first dates the band played in Latin America, and a small tour of Japan ending with an eight-date arena tour of the UK.
