This hat, which resembles those typically worn by 17th century English people, is for boys or girls. Notice that there is no buckle on the hat. Buckles are often depicted on the ha ts (and shoes) in paintings of "the Pilgrims," however, buckles became very fashionable much later in the 1600s. The people who sailed on the Mayflower and other ships to New England in the 1620s and 30s did not wear big buckles on their hats and shoes at that time.
