In a return to his artistic origins, the new series from James Needham focuses on the three elements that launched his artistic journey: light, shape, and color. By returning to that place of origin, Needham has arrived at a place completely fantastic and new. Quiet moments of reflection have become an essential part of his collages and life over the last few years and the artist wanted to create works that directly reflect the peace, insight, gratitude and joy these moments provide. For Reflective Color, Needham wanted to imbue pieces with that same spirit and offer people a reminder to go for a walk with no destination, enjoy the beauty and tranquility we are surrounded by but often, through either guilt or circumstance, feel unable to appreciate. Indeed, we all need those reminders — the artist does, too.“Focusing on beauty, joy and appreciation in the world today can feel impractical and indulgent, like being a pacifist during a war… it really only works if everyone, on both sides, joins you.”
