Morgans Horticultural Services, University of Florida, Clemson University and more have witnessed the destruction on St. Augustine lawns from Chinch Bugs and Chinch Bug resistance for many years now. While large populations of chinch bugs are controlled with standard insecticide applications some populations refuse to die, this is resistance. Resistant varieties of chinch bugs need a more in depth treatment plan to control or eliminate populations of chinch bugs that are resistant. When these populations are observed Morgans suggest at a minimum of 2 separate application rotating insecticide products in efforts for maximum control. A combination of contact and systemic products will be used. Morgans additional chinch bug treatment includes 2 applications and 2 inspections. Application and inspection happens on the same visit. This course of treatments happens between regular monthly service. Example: Day 1 - Regular monthly service. Day 14 - Extra Chinch Bug Treatment. Day 30- Regular monthly service. Day 45-Extra Chinch Bug Treatment. Day 60-Regular monthly service. Once this course of treatments has been completed the damage will need to be assessed and suggestions on renovation will be given.
