Sphaerichthys osphromenoides is a lovely species of smaller gourami from SOutheast Asia. Named for their rich choloate-brown bodies, they also develop gold banding at maturity, and males may get red and green highlights in the fins. They are at their best in soft, acidic water. They appreciate being kept in groups, but males may become territorial with each other when they hit maturity. These somewhat shy fish are best kept as the largest species in a tank and pair well with smaller tetras and rasboras, as well as loaches and catfish. These are young adults around 1.5".
