Annie is fascinated by the serendipitous beauty of the natural world - and the way a dash of contrasting geometry can highlight it. Navy Midnight's designs are influenced by her background in painting, printmaking and landscape architecture as well as her lifetime love of gardening. Many of the designs are based on drawings of plants in her backyard garden. Annie loves to make greeting cards because putting a thoughtful and beautiful card in the mail is a small moment of infinite possibility. And so is opening a lovely envelope, wondering what you'll find. Every design starts as a hand drawing that is ultimately made into a series of printing plates and printed by hand, one color at a time, on an antique letterpress using heavyweight tree-free cotton paper, which reclaims fibers that would otherwise be discarded by the cotton cloth industry.
