In this short, hands-on workshop you will make your own pair of wooden chopsticks using traditional Japanese woodworking tools and techniques. You will begin by selecting your timber from a small range of suitable hardwoods. Using a Japanese hand plane, you will then plane the tapers using a prepared jig, ensuring accuracy while still doing the work yourself. Once the basic shape is established, you will refine the chopsticks by hand: Adjusting the tapers Softening the edges with sandpaper for a comfortable feel You will finish the chopsticks by adding a small bevel to the end grain, then applying a food-safe oil finish.If desired, a short personal laser engraving can be added.
