Chrome Oxide (Cr₂O₃) is a powerful ceramic colorant that produces stable, rich green tones in glazes, even at high firing temperatures. It is highly refractory and often used in sm all amounts to achieve celadon greens, jade-like surfaces, or as a component in black glazes when combined with other oxides. Its chemical stability makes it resistant to volatilization, giving consistent results across different kiln atmospheres. Dust can irritate the lungs, skin, and eyes, and chromium compounds should always be handled with care. Wear gloves, a dust mask or respirator, and work in a well-ventilated area.
