The Stingers were Cincinnati's only major league hockey team. Playing at Riverfront Coliseum (now Heritage Bank Center), they were members of the World Hockey Association (WHA)…fro m 1975 to 1979.When that league merged with the National Hockey League in 1979, the Stingers, as well as the Birmingham Bulls, were left out in the cold.
