Violinist Drew Tretick has a tone that harkens back to the day when milking a note for all it's worth was what brought the crowds in, and I am a sucker for it. Usually performing with a self-created electric violin, Tretick shifts gears and plays the more traditional type with the London Symphony Orchestra for an album's worth of warm soundtrack pieces. Most jazz oriented are the standards For All We Know and What a Wonderful World which feature a Bechet-like vibrato that is quite bel canto.
