Incentive Create patterned art work around a circular theme. -Line-Shape-Space-Colour-Texture Supplies Art paper or A4 paper Paint Paintbrush Pencil Compass Black Crayon Scissors Craft / PVA Glue Black backing paper Lesson 1 First design...Using a compass and pencil start drawing circles, each one increasing in size by 1-2cm. 2 Draw 6 or 8 lines coming out from the centre. These do not need to be straight. 3 Choose two strong contrasting colours and paint each one in every second space ensuring each row has the opposite colours painted. Allow to dry. 4 Trace all lines with black crayon. Display on black. If each child has selected different colours, the display will look dynamic! 5 Next design.....Use lead pencil to draw 16 (or even number) lines from centre of page outwards. 6 Choose two brilliant contrasting colours to paint the spaces. 7 When dry trace over lines in black crayon. Add arrows going one way on one of the colours. Keep these close together. 8 Add arrows in the reverse direction on the other colour until entire page is filled. 9 Use compass to draw a large circle from the centre. 10 Cut out this circle. With the remainder of the paper left, fold each layer on top of each other and cut out 8 arches/wedges. 11 Position all the pieces on black backing paper and when happy with the design, paste them down.
