One of the coolest vining tropical vining plants out there on the market, Cissus discolor is originates from the high altitudes of southeastern Asia. It features leaves with a silver, blue, and purple pattern with a purple underside as well as purple stem. This one is a vigorous climber so be sure to give it some space to grow out. Through this plant is completely unrelated to actual rex begonias, the leaves are multi-colored and have an appearance very similar to a rex begonia, hence the common name. Care Cissus will need bright but not direct sunlight. An east-facing window is ideal, where it will get a high level of morning sun but not blasting sun in the afternoon. Water it when the soil is dry to the touch but they don’t like “wet feet.” Fertilize rex begonia vines every 3 or 4 weeks from spring through late summer. Do not fertilize in the autumn or winter because the plant is not in an active state of growth. Growth Habit Cissus is a vining plant is more closely related to a grape plant than it is to a begonia.
