Civettone Base 184332 is a brand new Firmenich specialty designed to replicate the smell of civettone, the prized macrocyclic musk. You get the same smooth, warm, powdery musk character — radiant, skin-like, and softly animalic — in a ready-to-use base without sourcing the pure molecule which is, for all intents and purposes, no longer available. Use this base anywhere you would use civettone itself. Even a trace adds radiance and musky warmth to florals, giving jasmine, rose, and tuberose a glowing depth they cannot achieve alone. It anchors orientals and chypres while adding the diffusive power that makes a fragrance project. Dose with care — this base is potent and a little goes far, however it is sultry and soft so an overdose would be perfectly fine. Blend with sandalwood, labdanum, and amber materials for classic musky warmth. Try it alongside castoreum, ambrette, and other animalic materials to build rich, multifaceted musk accords. Curiously those who can smell muscone often can't smell civettone, and vice versa. Civettone base is perceptible to all.
