When the Westerns were built there was no corporate livery for BR with different regions painting their rolling stock in a variety of colours. The Western region was known for havi ng an independent streak and this was shown with the introduction of the Westerns. Two Westerns were delivered in unique experimental colours, D1000 in desert sand and D1015 in golden ochre. This need to be different was also evident with the introduction of the maroon livery which was only ever applied to the Westerns and Warships. D1015 was the only member of the class to be painted in Golden Ochre. Show more
