The fleet of 22 'Deltics' were allocated to three depots, 8 went to Haymarket in Edinburgh, 6 to Gateshead near Newcastle and 8 to Finsbury Park in London. Those allocated to Hayma rket and Gateshead were named after British Army regiments from the North East of England and Scotland, whilst those allocated to Finsbury Park followed the tradition of the old LNER by naming their locos after famous racehorses. It was only the racehorse named Finsbury Park locos that had their window surrounds painted white. Show more
