Cellerini has been making leather goods in a first-floor atelier on Via del Sole, in central Florence, since the late 1950s. Bags are the main work, and the workshop has always wor ked to order - every piece cut, stitched and assembled by hand to the customer's specifications, in the leathers and colours the customer chooses. This is one of those pieces, in one of those configurations: a leather travel bag with twin rolled handles and a shoulder strap, sized for a weekend and proportioned to sit comfortably across a body. The body, in the image, is alce - the workshop's softly grained leather - in Tirreno, a deep marine. The piping and handles are alce in polvere, a soft dust cream. Inside, the bag is lined in cinghiale burro: wild-boar leather in a butter yellow. The hardware is gold-plated brass throughout. Two zip pockets and an open pocket sit inside the lining; a larger button-closed pocket runs the long side of the exterior. The bag pictured is the configuration that lives in our shop.
