This is a hardy compact climbing plant that grows up to 2.5m high to create a striking focal point on a trellis or obelisk. Clematis Niobe produces masses of blooms, and its long flowering period makes it a popular choice with gardeners. It is easy to care for and also works well in pots and containers to add colour to patios and paved areas. The deep red flowers appear almost black when they first form, before morphing into a beautifully deep ruby-red hue. They have a rich velvety texture, which is beautifully complemented by vibrant glossy green leaves. Bright yellow stamens attract bees and other pollinators to the garden.
