The composition is structured around the contrast between the pale cliff edge and the deeper colours of land and sea. The palette is restrained, combining cool blues and greys with warmer reds and greens in the cliffside and foreground. Paint is applied in broad, confident passages, with visible layering that gives weight and solidity to the landscape.
