This handsome clock is a stylish piece from celebrated German maker Junghans. The manufacturer/designer has a long history of clockmaking going back to the 1800s and they came up w ith some iconic designs in the 1950s-1970s. This clock is a nice example of this and features a brown and orange angular chassis and round face with simple, sleek brass Roman numeral numbering and hands. The clock has an interesting hanging aparatus with a rope and a large brass button which has a hole in the back for hanging on a single nail or screw. I have to admit I have no idea how the clock is powered or if it works; it was last serviced in 1993. It makes a beautiful deep sound when you wind the clock hands to the point where the alarm is set. Appears to be in good vintage condition with some wear to the rope at the joints (see closeup photo) and minor wear to the wood finish. Measures 19 inches in its full length (brass button to bottom of wooden clock); the wooden clock without hanger measures 9.5 inches high and 9 inches wide (at its widest point towards the base) - it's a full-sized clock, not small!
