Close As You Get is the sixteenth solo studio album from Northern Irish blues guitarist Gary Moore, released on May 21, 2007 via Eagle Rock/Sanctuary Records. Recorded between October 2006 and February 2007, the album marked a significant reunion with Brian Downey — Moore's former bandmate from Thin Lizzy — who plays drums on every track. The result is one of the most live-feeling records in Moore's blues catalog, its title deliberately evoking the raw immediacy of a concert performance. The album splits its eleven tracks roughly between five original compositions and six covers, drawing on classic Chicago blues material including Sonny Boy Williamson's "Eyesight to the Blind" and "Checkin' Up on My Baby," as well as an electrifying take on Chuck Berry's "Thirty Days."Sonic Abuse awarded the album 9/10, calling it "a raw, bluesy album" that is "beautifully produced and packed with thrilling moments," and praising the intuitive chemistry between Moore and Downey as the record's defining quality. The originals hold their own alongside the covers — "If the Devil Made Whisky" opens the album with a hard, overdriven blues attack, while "Hard Times" features standout harmonica work from Mark Feltham set against Moore's characteristically flashy fretwork. Moore himself described it as one of the easiest albums of his career to make, owing to the live-in-the-room approach taken in the studio. BMG reissued the album on CD and vinyl in 2026 as part of a broader Gary Moore reissue campaign, pairing it with Old New Ballads Blues, Bad For You Baby, and the live album Live at Bush Hall 2007.
