It is a rock-solid, tournament-quality table designed for serious play. What makes the "framed slate" better? A framed slate allows the billiard cloth (felt) to be stapled on, which is the professional standard. It holds the cloth tighter and more evenly, and it will never peel or bubble like cheaper, glued-on cloth. It also makes re-felting the table much easier and cleaner in the future.
