Takano Chikko, the manufacturer of these bamboo chopsticks, was founded in the late 1960s in Nagaoka-kyo city, Kyoto, by Fukyusai Takano Tadao. As the son of shopkeepers who ran a bamboo-crafts store, he combined his family’s personal knowledge with the Kyoto region’s rich culinary history and unparalleled natural resource to create high quality bamboo goods. Each set of chopsticks is handcrafted by artisans who specialize in working with the local bamboo that is used for each piece.
