These cufflinks feature a design derived from elements of the 6 tapestries known collectively as the Lady and the Unicorn created around the year 1500, and currently housed in the Musée de Cluny in Paris, France. Often considered among the greatest works of art from the Middle Ages, the tapestries are rich in symbolism and widely believed to represent the five senses, with the sixth tapestry interpreted as a representation of love or understanding. They were likely commissioned by a member of the noble Le Viste family, whose coat of arms appears in the tapestries.
