While a Coated Cable will certainly last longer on rough surfaces like concrete, their lifespan on such surfaces will range anywhere from a few workouts to a few months, depending on frequency of use, jumping technique, and how rough the surface is. There are a few factors to consider when deciding which cable option is best for you. If speed is your top priority, you're an efficient jumper who's training indoors on rubber flooring, and you don't mind changing your cable a little more frequently, then the bare cable is perfect for you. However, if durability and versatility are your top priorities, and you'd prefer a longer span between cable replacements, then the Coated or Scout cables are probably better options, just keep in mind that the Scout cable is heavier by design and is ONLY compatible with the Scout handles.
