Their fresh, natural coconut flavours are perfect for adding to beer or spirits like coconut rum, and the dosage can be varied to achieve the desired effect. Craft your own boutique rum or coconut flavoured beers using these fresh coconut flakes! Dosage: Beer: 500g of coconut flakes in 20L will produce a balanced but apparent coconut flavour and aroma. Particularly suits porters, stouts and milk stouts. Ensure to toast the coconut lightly to help remove some of the oil. Excessive oil in your beer will destroy any head retention of the final beer. Rum: Soak 1L of a rum of your choice on 30g-100g of coconut flakes. Allow to soak and continue tasting until the desired level of coconut flavour is achieved and strain the coconut flakes from the rum using a coffee filter. If louching occurs top up with rum until the spirit clarity improves.
