For this project he focused on a heavily polluted pond that had been used to cool the steel mill's furnaces, drawing visual parallels between the microscopic life in the water and the human life in the nearby town. Of this micro-macro approach, Gill writes: "I became committed to the idea of attempting to bridge these two apparently disparate worlds—so physically close yet so different in scale.” Show more
