Soft tissue injuries that require support are helped by the wide branch while bone lesions can be helped with the narrow branch by reducing pressure. The projection medially on the narrow branch is to engage the bars. This is an asymmetric shoe with a wide branch to provide support under collateral or suspensory ligament injuries and a narrow branch to reduce pressure under subchondral bone lesions.
