Lush tropical fruit, juicy boysenberry and zingy lime create an intensely sweet, vibrant and expressive cup. This is the second time we've welcomed this coffee from Don Linarco Rodríguez and the remarkable Betania Farm collective in southern Huila. After loving a lot from the main harvest earlier this year, we couldn't resist bringing it back! Bringing together 117 smallholder producers, the collective shares infrastructure, knowledge and a commitment to producing exceptional coffee through traditional, chemical-free farming. Led by Don Lino, their collaborative approach allows every producer to refine quality while expressing the distinctive character of Huila's high-altitude coffee-growing landscape. SL28 is one of our favourite coffee varieties, celebrated for its vibrant acidity and outstanding sweetness. Originally developed in Kenya, it's found a fascinating new expression in Colombia's high-altitude conditions. This naturally processed lot begins with 48 hours of anaerobic fermentation before drying slowly on raised beds for up to 30 days. Regular turning throughout the drying process ensures even moisture, preserving the variety's remarkable clarity while amplifying its juicy tropical fruit and citrus character. For this coffee we paid 189% above the Fair Trade price.
