Colorama is an original red and burgundy abstract painting — 48" × 24", oil on canvas — by Washington, DC–based contemporary artist Maria-Victoria Checa. Colorama pulses with raw, expressive energy — and offers a rare versatility: it can be hung vertically or horizontally, transforming entirely with each orientation. Vertically, torrents of crimson, magenta, and deep burgundy cascade downward, punctuated by flashes of sky blue, powder blue, hot pink, amber, and cream. Horizontally, those same colors sweep across the canvas like a blazing horizon — evoking a vast, color-saturated sky at dusk. The composition moves like music: bold and urgent in some passages, tender and luminous in others. Thick, gestural brushwork builds a richly textured surface that rewards both the first glance and the long gaze. This is a painting that transforms a room — filling it with warmth, vitality, and an unmistakable sense of life. A commanding statement piece for collectors drawn to bold abstract art and spaces that call for drama, depth, and color.
