Limited edition of 350 copies. Neither cookbook nor art book in the conventional sense, Colour Palate invites readers to think about cooking through color instead of recipes. Created by designer and artist Isobel Chiang, the interactive volume replaces ingredients with swatches of paper, encouraging readers to flip, combine, and rearrange them into their own “color recipes.” Twelve recipe prompts and twenty-four richly printed color cards generate thousands of possible combinations, transforming the creative process of cooking into an exercise in intuition, memory, and play. Intended for children and adults alike, the book encourages readers to look at markets, grocery stores, and their own kitchens with fresh eyes, discovering unexpected connections between color, flavor, and personal experience. Produced as a handcrafted artist’s edition, Colour Palate features silkscreen printing, an array of specialty papers, and an inventive presentation that includes a printed grocery receipt tucked inside a market-style paper bag. A playful meditation on creativity and the sensory pleasures of food. Wire-O bound artist’s book in kraft paper bag wrapper. Silkscreen printed.
