After three days of waiting in a blind in the Ecuadorian Amazon, I was treated to the sight of hundreds of parakeets raining down onto the forest floor, to drink and eat nutrient r ich water and clay. The parakeets require special nutrients to counteract the effects of acidic fruits that make up a large part of their diet. The show was over as quickly as it began, and I used a slow shutter speed to capture motion blur as parakeets took to the air, heading back to the canopy. Show more
