The Columnar Red Maple is a deciduous tree native to the low, wet areas of the eastern United States and Canada. This Maple cultivar is distinguished by its very narrow (15-20 feet wide) habit. It is considered a fast grower and has a columnar form. Large green star-shaped leaves are 3-lobed and yellow, orange, or red in the fall. Given full sun, it will develop a dense shady crown whereas part sun will render the tree more open. It tolerates nearly any kind of soil but requires ample water when young.
