Comfrey Oil Herbal Oil Infused with Comfrey Roots and Leaves Comfrey is a time honored herb for taking care of all sorts of minor skin issues. Amongst herbalists, it's known as a "vulnerary" - meaning, an agent that helps to heal and regenerate the skin. Comfrey oil is great for scrapes and scratches, minor cuts, cracked feet and elbows. It significantly speeds up skin cell proliferation due, at least in part, to its allantoin content. It does this SO effectively that there are warnings about not applying it to deep wounds because it can actually seal the surface over before deeper tissues have a chance to heal, potentially resulting in an abscess. Comfrey is also known as the "bone knitter" herb used traditionally to help speed up recovery of injured bones, as well as sprains and strains and pulled muscles. This oil contains both the roots and the leaves of the comfrey plant, as each has its own particular combination of healing compounds to offer and therefore its own special set of benefits. The base for this comfrey oil is organic sesame oil, which has been used preferentially for centuries in Ayurvedic medicine for its ability to penetrate and deliver nutrients deep into the body's tissues. Did Comfrey Save My Shoulder? I don't know... maybe! Comfrey oil actually marked my entrance into the herbal world with my fractured shoulder. I began applying it before I even KNEW it was broken - along with arnica and Saint Johns Wort oils. I believe I have those three herbs to thank for helping hold my shoulder together during the two months that I didn't know it was broken - during which time it was not properly immobilized. The orthopedic surgeon and I deemed it nothing short of a miracle that my shoulder not only held together, but healed seamlessly. Thank you, comfrey. 🌿 Ingredients Organic sesame oil, organic comfrey root, organic comfrey leaf, Plantservative
