Type 1 Commander™ The Type 1 Commander™ is a heavy-duty work boot originally designed for wildland firefighting and built for demanding conditions. Made for rough terrain, long day s, and hard use, the Type 1 Commander™ features a 1" thick sole for added protection underfoot. It is well suited for wildland work, logging, construction, carpentry, mechanics, outdoor labor, and other trades that require serious durability and support. Built with 7.5 to 8 oz. full-grain water-resistant leather, a high heel, and high arch support, the Type 1 Commander™ is designed to help balance your body weight and provide long-wearing comfort throughout the day. Compared to the Highlander™, the Type 1 Commander™ uses a heavier 1" sole for added underfoot protection. The Highlander™ uses a 3/4" sole for a slightly more flexible feel. Like most of Frank’s handmade boots, the Type 1 Commander™ is fully rebuildable and resoleable, giving you a boot that can be kept in service for years.
