Commiphora eminii seeds grow into a deciduous caudiciform tree native to the seasonally dry tropical biome from Tanzania north-east to Zambia — a southern East African and central African Commiphora of the dry woodland and miombo communities. Named after Eduard Schnitzer (Emin Pasha), the German-Egyptian administrator and explorer who collected natural history specimens across East Africa in the late nineteenth century. Like all Commiphora, it develops a swollen trunk with peeling aromatic bark and is fully deciduous in the dry season.
