Each design is visualized through the use of images and lettering, and then hand painted onto carefully aged materials, including old door panels and antique boards. The designs reflect the mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions and history, including farm, garden, goods and services, as well as a myriad of food, drink and hospitality pieces. They are made in Pennsylvania and are truly one-of-a-kind. The designs are styled by the artists to represent different eras, including the early 20th century, the 1920s, the 1930s, the 1940s and the 1950s. At the turn of the 20th century, these food, drink and hospitality signs would have been considered commercial art. Today they are grounded in the practice of graphic design, a member of the larger family of visual arts which includes photography, ceramics, drawing, painting, sculpture, and printmaking, to name a few.
