Pierre Jeanneret designed the Committee Chair in the 1950s for the administrative buildings of Chandigarh, the Indian city planned by Le Corbusier as a new civic ideal. Later adapted for the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, the chair carries the quiet authority of that institutional context: a solid natural oak frame joined with the same constructive honesty that defined the broader modernist project the two cousins shared.
