Common Lilac is one of the most beloved and time-honored of all garden shrubs, celebrated for its intoxicatingly fragrant flower clusters that perfume the spring air with an unforg ettable honeyed sweetness year after year. The large, pyramidal panicles of classic lilac-purple flowers appear in mid-spring and are among the most fragrant of all garden blooms, making this shrub an essential element of any fragrance garden. Growing 8 to 15 feet tall with an upright, multi-stemmed habit, Common Lilac is a long-lived and very cold-hardy shrub that improves in flowering as it matures, often living for over a century with minimal care.
